ABOUT THIS DISTILLERY

Wine Country Meets Craft Spirits

Brixeur Spirits sits on 18 acres in Oregon’s Willamette Valley wine country on Ribbon Ridge Road in Newberg, occupying a modern facility that serves as both distillery and event space. Founded by husband-and-wife team Randy and Danette Brixeur, the operation launched as an extension of their existing wine business, leveraging their deep knowledge of fermentation and their established vineyard connections. Randy brings decades of experience in beverage production, while Danette handles the business operations and hospitality side of things. They opened their distillery doors in 2018, focusing on craft spirits that reflect the same attention to terroir and quality they’ve applied to winemaking. The distillery produces vodka, gin, and whiskey, with plans to expand their aged spirits program as their barrels mature. What started as a natural evolution from their wine background has become a destination that bridges the gap between Oregon’s famous wine culture and its growing craft spirits scene. The Brixeurs designed their facility with visitors in mind, creating spaces that work for both production and entertaining, complete with tasting areas that overlook the production floor.

WHAT SETS THEM APART

Vineyard Connections Wine Barrel Finishes

Brixeur’s location in the heart of Oregon wine country gives them access to relationships and ingredients that most distilleries can’t match. Randy and Danette use their vineyard connections to source grape-based spirits and experiment with wine barrel finishing, creating products that genuinely reflect their dual expertise in both wine and spirits production. The facility itself was purpose-built as both a working distillery and event venue, with sightlines designed so visitors can watch the entire production process while tasting. Their approach combines the precision they’ve learned from winemaking with spirits production, paying particular attention to fermentation techniques that many craft distilleries overlook.

THE VISITOR EXPERIENCE

Modern Tasting Room Production Floor Views

You’ll taste in a modern space with floor-to-ceiling windows that look directly into the production area, so you can see the stills and fermentation tanks while sampling their products. The Brixeurs often handle tastings themselves, sharing stories about how they transitioned from wine to spirits and explaining their production methods with the kind of detail that comes from hands-on involvement. The space feels more like a contemporary winery tasting room than a traditional distillery – clean lines, lots of natural light, and a relaxed atmosphere that encourages lingering. You can watch the production process through the glass, and if timing works out, you might catch them actually distilling during your visit.

IS IT WORTH VISITING

Perfect Wine Country Spirits Detour

If you’re already exploring Oregon wine country and want to see how established beverage producers approach craft spirits, Brixeur offers a perspective you won’t find at most distilleries. The husband-and-wife team brings genuine expertise and personal attention that makes for engaging conversations about their process and philosophy. However, this isn’t the place for aged whiskey enthusiasts looking for mature bourbon or rye – their spirits program is still young, with most of their offerings being unaged or lightly aged. The experience works best for people interested in the craft and business of distilling rather than those seeking rare or complex aged spirits. The Willamette Valley location makes it an easy add-on to wine tasting trips, and the modern facility provides a comfortable tasting environment.

⚠️ VISITING TIPS

Call ahead or check their website for current hours and availability, as they often host private events that can affect public tasting times. The location on Ribbon Ridge Road puts you in the middle of wine country, so GPS works fine, but expect winding rural roads typical of the area. Parking is available on-site. If you’re planning a day of wine and spirits tasting, Brixeur works well as either a starting or ending point since their modern facility provides a different atmosphere from traditional wineries. Ask about their barrel program and future release plans – Randy’s happy to talk about their aging experiments and how they’re applying wine industry techniques to spirits production. Weekend visits often provide the best chance to meet both Randy and Danette.
