Fiore Winery & Distillery sits on 75 acres of rolling farmland in Pylesville, Maryland, about 45 minutes northeast of Baltimore. Mike and Rose Fiore founded this operation in 2008, starting as a winery before expanding into spirits production. Mike brought his background in construction and Rose her hospitality experience to create what’s become Harford County’s first farm distillery. They produce vodka, gin, rum, and seasonal spirits alongside their wine operations in a renovated barn complex that maintains its agricultural roots.
The Fiores didn’t set out to become distillers initially. Their journey began with grape growing and winemaking, but Mike’s curiosity about distillation led them to add a copper still and expand their license around 2015. Rose handles much of the visitor experience while Mike focuses on production, creating spirits that reflect their farm-to-glass philosophy. They grow some of their own botanicals and work with local farmers when possible, keeping everything rooted in Maryland agriculture.
Visitors get a dual experience here—part working farm, part production facility. You’re not walking through a polished industrial space but rather a functional barn where the smell of fermenting fruit mingles with the clean scent of distillation. The tasting room overlooks the production area, so you can watch the process while sampling. It’s casual and unpretentious, with the Fiores often personally greeting visitors and explaining their craft.
