Siesta Key Rum operates from an industrial complex in Sarasota, Florida, where founders Nancy and Derek met while working in the spirits industry in the early 2010s. They launched their distillery in 2014 with a focus on producing premium rum using traditional Caribbean methods combined with modern American craft distilling techniques. The operation sits in a 5,000 square foot facility that houses their custom-built copper column still imported from Germany, along with fermentation tanks and aging barrels. They produce several varieties of rum including white, spiced, and aged expressions, all made from Florida sugarcane molasses. What started as a two-person operation has grown into one of Florida’s most recognized rum producers, with their bottles now distributed across multiple states. The distillery maintains a tasting room where visitors can sample their full lineup while learning about the rum-making process from the team that creates it.
