Old Hickory Releases New 12-Year Bottled-in-Bond Rye & 15-Year Barrel Proof Whiskey
Old Hickory Bourbon has announced two new limited-edition age-stated expressions to close out 2025: the Hermitage Reserve 12-Year-Old Straight Rye (Bottled in Bond) and the Hermitage Reserve 15-Year-Old Barrel Proof Whiskey. Both releases highlight Old Hickory’s legacy of long aging, traditional craftsmanship, and its resurgence under the R.S. Lipman Company.
Founded in 1868 and carried forward through Prohibition and multiple revivals, Old Hickory is positioning these new bottles as some of its most mature and expressive offerings to date.

According to the brand, the 15-year Barrel Proof opens with butterscotch, cake batter and toasted marshmallow on the nose. The palate is described as sweet spice and layered brown sugar, finishing long with butter and waffle cone notes.
This expression represents the oldest whiskey released so far in the Hermitage Reserve line.
12-Year Hermitage Reserve Straight Rye (Bottled in Bond)
(Tasting notes from Old Hickory.)
For rye fans, the new 12-year Bottled-in-Bond release is said to deliver caramel and vanilla with aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon and mint. The brand notes it continues the line’s profile of rich, full-bodied rye character.
As a Bottled-in-Bond whiskey, this rye was distilled in a single distilling season, aged at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottled at 100 proof — but Old Hickory takes it much further with a 12-year age statement.
Part of a Growing Hermitage Reserve Line
These two new releases join Old Hickory’s expanding lineup, which already includes:
- Old Hickory White Label Straight Bourbon
- Old Hickory Blended Whiskey
- Hermitage Reserve 10-Year Barrel Proof (limited edition)
Old Hickory says the new bottles are aimed at both collectors and newcomers looking for American whiskey with meaningful age and a strong historical story.
Old Hickory’s Message
In announcing the releases, Trisha Cancilla, VP of Marketing and Brand Strategy at Lipman Brothers and the R.S. Lipman Company, said the goal is to share whiskey “with history and true depth,” emphasizing that “great bourbon is earned, not rushed.”
