Echo Hill Orchards Winery & Distillery sits on a 100-acre working farm in Monson, Massachusetts, where the Henehan family has been growing fruit since 1994. What started as an apple orchard and berry farm evolved into something more ambitious when they added winemaking in the early 2000s, then launched their distillery operation to create brandies and spirits from their own fruit. The property sprawls across rolling hills in the Pioneer Valley, with orchards that produce the apples and other fruits that become their signature spirits.
The Henehans didn’t set out to become distillers—they were farmers first. But as their wine business grew, they realized they could do something special with their fruit beyond just wine. The distillery uses estate-grown apples to create apple brandy and other fruit-based spirits, keeping everything local and controlled from tree to bottle. It’s a true farm-to-glass operation where you can literally see the orchards that produce the ingredients for what you’re drinking.
Visitors get the full agricultural experience here—this isn’t just a tasting room, it’s a working farm where you might encounter tractors and harvest activities depending on the season. The tasting room sits among the orchards with views of the surrounding farmland, and you can often meet the family members who grew the fruit in your glass. It’s one of the few places where you can taste spirits while looking at the trees that produced them.
