ABOUT THIS DISTILLERY

Wild Leap Atlanta sits in the heart of downtown at 125 Ted Turner Drive, occupying a sleek 10,000-square-foot space that serves as both brewery and distillery. Founded by Anthony Rodriguez and Chris Elliott, who started Wild Leap Brew Co. in LaGrange, Georgia in 2014, this Atlanta location opened in 2019 as their urban expansion into distilling. The duo transformed from craft beer pioneers into spirits producers, bringing their fermentation expertise to bourbon, rye, and gin production alongside their core brewing operations. Rodriguez, a former homebrewer turned professional, and Elliott, who left corporate finance to chase the craft beverage dream, spent years perfecting their brewing before diving into distillation. Their Atlanta facility houses custom copper stills from Vendome Copper & Brass Works, the same Kentucky company that builds equipment for major bourbon producers. Head distiller Matt Neal, who came from ASW Distillery, oversees production of their bourbon and rye whiskeys, which age in 53-gallon barrels sourced from Independent Stave Company. The space feels more like an industrial taproom than a traditional distillery, with exposed brick, polished concrete floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the production area with natural light. You can watch the distillation process while sipping cocktails made from their spirits, and the brewery side keeps things lively with rotating taps of IPAs and sours. It’s positioned as Atlanta’s first combination brewery-distillery, though they’re still young enough that most of their aged spirits are just hitting maturity.

WHAT SETS THEM APART

Wild Leap’s combination brewery-distillery model sets them apart in Atlanta’s spirits scene. They’re fermenting grain bills for whiskey using the same temperature-controlled systems and yeast management expertise they developed for beer production, which gives them unusual precision in the early stages of distillation. Their location puts them within walking distance of Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena, making them one of the few distilleries you can hit before or after major events. The facility’s design prioritizes transparency—you can see both the brewing tanks and copper stills from the tasting room, and they’ve built viewing areas specifically for watching the distillation process in action.

THE VISITOR EXPERIENCE

You’ll walk into a bright, modern space that feels more like a trendy brewpub than a traditional distillery. The bar stretches along one wall with views directly into the production area, where you can watch distillation runs happening in real time through large windows. Tastings happen at the main bar, where bartenders pour flights of their spirits alongside cocktails that showcase each one. The atmosphere is casual and urban, with a mix of high-top tables, community seating, and standing room that gets busy during Falcons or Hawks games. Staff members are knowledgeable about both the brewing and distilling processes, and they’re happy to explain the differences between their beer fermentation and whiskey mash bills.

IS IT WORTH VISITING

If you’re already downtown for events or exploring the area, Wild Leap makes for a solid stop, especially since few distilleries offer this kind of dual brewing-distilling experience. Beer drinkers will appreciate having familiar territory alongside spirits, and the location can’t be beat for convenience. However, if you’re looking for deep bourbon history or traditional distillery atmosphere, this might feel too modern and brewery-focused for your taste. The spirits are still relatively young since they only started distilling in 2019, so don’t expect aged statements that compete with established Kentucky producers. It’s best for people who want to see active production, try well-made cocktails, and understand how brewery expertise translates to spirits.

⚠️ VISITING TIPS

No reservations needed for regular tastings, but call ahead if you want a detailed tour during active distillation hours. Parking can be tricky on event days, so check the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena schedules before heading over—street parking fills up fast when games are happening. The best time to visit is weekday afternoons when you’re more likely to see actual distillation runs and have space to chat with staff. Ask about their fermentation process if you’re curious about how their beer background influences their spirits. The cocktail menu changes seasonally, so try their house-made spirits in different preparations to understand the flavor profiles.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Wild Leap Atlanta ⎸ Brewery ⎸ Distillery — Visitor FAQ

Do you offer tours of both the brewery and distillery?
Yes, tours cover both operations and show how we use our brewing expertise in spirits production. Tours include tastings of beer and spirits, and you can see active production on most weekdays.
How long have your spirits been aging?
We started distilling in 2019, so our oldest spirits are around 4-5 years old. We’re releasing bourbon and rye as they reach maturity, with more aged expressions coming as our inventory develops.
Is parking available on game days?
Street parking can be challenging during Falcons or Hawks games since we’re close to both stadiums. We recommend checking event schedules and arriving early, or using ride-share services on busy event days.
