Six & Twenty Distillery sits in a business park on Perry Avenue in Greenville, South Carolina, where founders Kevin Minick and Darek Bell turned their shared passion for craft spirits into the Upstate’s first distillery since Prohibition. The operation launched in 2015 after the duo spent years perfecting their recipes and navigating South Carolina’s complex distilling laws. Minick, who previously worked in the wine industry, and Bell, with his engineering background, combined their expertise to create a small-batch operation focused on bourbon, rye whiskey, and white spirits. The distillery operates out of a converted warehouse space that houses their custom-built stills and barrel aging room, producing everything from moonshine to aged whiskeys. Their approach emphasizes local ingredients when possible, including South Carolina corn, and they’ve built a reputation for hands-on craftsmanship in a state where craft distilling was just emerging. The facility doubles as both production space and tasting room, giving visitors a genuine behind-the-scenes look at how their spirits come together. Since opening, they’ve expanded their capacity and product line while maintaining their commitment to small-batch production methods.
