Outlaw Distillery sits in an industrial area of Sandy, Utah, where founders Mark and Lori Anderson turned their passion for craft spirits into reality in 2015. Mark, a former engineer, and Lori, who worked in marketing, decided to dive into distilling after years of home brewing and experimenting with spirits. They started small in a 4,000-square-foot facility, focusing on premium vodka, whiskey, and gin using locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible. The operation centers around their custom 500-liter copper still, imported from Germany, which allows them to control every aspect of the distillation process. What began as a weekend hobby evolved into Utah’s commitment to craft distilling, with the Andersons handling everything from grain-to-glass production to personally greeting visitors who stop by their tasting room. The space feels more like a workshop than a polished tourist destination, with exposed brick walls, concrete floors, and the constant hum of production equipment creating an authentic working distillery atmosphere.
