Orange County Distillery sits on a working farm in Goshen, New York, about an hour north of Manhattan in the Hudson Valley. Founded in 2011 by John Glebocki and Bryan Ensall, it was New York’s first whiskey distillery since Prohibition. Glebocki, who previously worked in construction, and Ensall, with a background in finance, spent years navigating state regulations to make their vision reality. They produce bourbon, rye whiskey, vodka, and gin in a converted dairy barn on 96 acres of farmland that’s been in Glebocki’s family for generations. The operation started small with a 500-gallon copper still from Germany, but they’ve expanded significantly since opening their doors to visitors in 2012. What began as two guys with a dream of making whiskey has grown into one of New York’s most established craft distilleries, complete with a tasting room, event space, and regular tours that show off both the distilling process and the beautiful farm setting. You’ll find them producing everything from their flagship corn whiskey to seasonal specialties, all while maintaining that farm-to-bottle approach that uses local ingredients whenever possible.
