Ogden’s Own Distillery sits in Ogden, Utah, founded by Steve Conlin in 2009 as Utah’s first legal distillery since Prohibition. Conlin, a former tech entrepreneur, decided to pivot from software to spirits after falling in love with craft distilling during travels through Scotland and Kentucky. The distillery operates out of a converted warehouse space on Stockman Way, where they’ve built their operation around small-batch production and local ingredient sourcing.
The journey wasn’t easy—Conlin had to work with Utah legislators to change laws that would allow craft distilleries to operate and sell on-site. After three years of legal groundwork, they finally opened their doors in 2012. The team focuses on creating spirits that reflect Utah’s character, using local grains when possible and Rocky Mountain water. Master distiller duties rotate among the founding team, keeping the operation intimate and hands-on.
Visitors find themselves in a working distillery where production happens right in front of you. The space feels industrial but welcoming, with copper stills and fermentation tanks taking center stage. They produce vodka, gin, whiskey, and several unique liqueurs, including some that incorporate local botanicals. The operation stays true to its craft roots—you’re not touring a massive facility, but getting an up-close look at how small-batch spirits come together.
