Hatch Distilling Co. sits right on Highway 42 in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin, making it one of the few craft distilleries you’ll find in Door County’s cherry orchard and tourist country. Founded by husband-and-wife team Chad and Mandy Hatch, the distillery opened in 2016 after Chad spent years perfecting recipes in their garage. Chad brings a background in chemistry and engineering to the operation, while Mandy handles the business side with her marketing experience. They converted a former auto repair shop into their production facility and tasting room, keeping some of the industrial bones but warming it up with reclaimed wood and local artwork. You’ll find their custom 250-gallon copper still working alongside fermentation tanks, producing vodka, gin, bourbon, and seasonal spirits that incorporate Door County’s famous cherries and other local ingredients. The Hatches didn’t just want to make spirits—they wanted to create something that captured the essence of their adopted home in Wisconsin’s scenic peninsula. What started as a retirement dream turned into a full-scale operation when locals kept asking where they could buy Chad’s homemade creations. Now they’re producing thousands of bottles annually while maintaining that small-batch attention to detail that got them started.
