English Prairie Distilling Co. sits on North Wisconsin Avenue in Muscoda, a small Wisconsin River town where founders Tim and Jacque Weymouth turned their dream of craft distilling into reality in 2018. Tim, a former mechanical engineer, and Jacque, who brought business acumen to the operation, spent years researching and planning before opening their doors in a converted building that houses both their production facility and tasting room. They focus on small-batch spirits made with locally sourced ingredients when possible, producing vodka, gin, and whiskey that reflect their commitment to quality over quantity. The husband-and-wife team handles most operations themselves, from mashing and distilling to bottling and serving customers in their intimate tasting space. What started as a retirement project has become a labor of love that’s brought craft spirits to southwestern Wisconsin, where they’re among the few distilleries serving the region. The operation runs on a custom copper still system that allows them to control every aspect of production, and they’ve built relationships with local farmers and suppliers to source grains and botanicals. Their approach emphasizes traditional distilling methods combined with modern quality control, and they’ve slowly built a following among locals and visitors exploring Wisconsin’s growing craft spirits scene.
